The two-volume "Stories of a Lifetime" is a collection of Thomas Mann's short stories and novellas, such as “Death in Venice”, “Tonio Kröger”, and “Buddenbrooks”, that explore recurring themes in his career, such as the tension between art and life, the intellectual and the artist, and the psychology of the bourgeoisie. These stories often feature disillusioned romantics, artists, or intellectuals grappling with their isolation, desires, and the societal changes of late 19th and early 20th-century Europe.
